Rath Yatra in Ahmadabad 2017�chariot festival�

Rath yatra in Ahmadabad is one of most colorful and auspicious religious event of Gujarat. RATH yatra has a great history .

The 140th yatra of lord Jagannath, lord balabhadra and Godess shubhadra begin with pahind vidhi on 25THJUNE .

Pahind vidhi is a -�ritual sweeping of the road� was performed by the chief minister of Gujarat, VIJAY Rupani  and also by his deputy  Nitin patel.

Rath yatra in Ahmadabad 2017 includes  19 elephants, 101 decorated trucks with 18 bhajan mandalis.

Prasad was distributed all along the yatra route,Preparation of Prasad included 30000 kg mung, 500 kg jamun,400 kg cucumber, 300 kg pomegranates and 300 kg mango.

The entire route of rath yatra was kept under survillience with more than 300 cctv cameras to keep a close eye on every movements.



Story behind Rath yatra 2017 �Jagannath puri Temple



The famous festival celebrated in the month of june had great history behind about 450 years ago area where now Jagannath temple is was very dense with thick forest behind the Sabarmati river, where an sadhu shree hanumandasji visited the area and found place suitable for his woreship. His successor shree sarangdasji  devotee of jaganath, had visionary instructions from lord jaganath to go ahemdabad and install there idols with his brother lord Baladevi and lord shubahdra. And thus that temple became shree jaganathji mandir. A Cow shed was built there and since than begin the Gau Seva.
During rath yatra main deities of the temple, lord jagannath ,Godess subhadra and lord balabhadra are taken out in respective chariots as a part of a huge procession.

The Music < Tarp Family: Folk Fest 2014 Wrap Up

It's taken me a long time to write this post because mostly I couldn't think of how to fill out my top 5 for the Edmonton Folk Fest 2014 . This was not a stellar year on the hill for music for me. I've previously acknowledged that I've pigeon holed myself so much musically that I enjoy less and less these days.
